Batavia City Manager Rachel Tabelski Requests Funding to Improve Water Infastructure
In a press release on Sunday, Batavia City Manager Rachel Tabelski announced the city is requesting funding for 3 seperate projects to improve water infrastructure.
The city is seeking a Water Infrastructure Improvement Act Grant for a $4.17 million dollar project to replace two aging water lines, a Congressional Direct Funding request submitted to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to replace aging water lines on Pearl Street and filed a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund funding request to replace 900 lead sevice pipes in Batavia.
Tabelski said,“The City is dedicated to improving our water system and making necessary repairs on infrastructure to reduce the amount of annual loss of water in the system and remove lead lines from the City"
Batavia lost 23% of water producd by the Batavia Water Plant in 2023 due to leakage. These grants would provide a stable future for water in Batavia.
